Peridot Solar – A European Solar Development Company
Peridot Solar is a newly established solar development company that has been founded by a senior management team with over 100 years of combined renewable experience. Peridot Solar has offices in London and Milan, with a team of 30 people focused on development, construction, and operation of solar PV across Europe. Peridot Solar has over 1GW of projects in Italy and the UK and is seeking to develop and build 5GW by 2026. Peridot Solar is a portfolio company of FitzWalter Capital, a global private investment firm.
Peridot Solar is on track in 2022 to start construction on 120MW of photovoltaic plants in Italy, and 60MWs in the UK. Peridot believes the structural changes to the electricity prices in Europe are a product of the dramatic change in the energy landscape, particularly to gas and carbon prices, and investment in solar is a key part of addressing gas reliance and climate change.
“The energy sector is experiencing a moment of critical change due to the conflict in Ukraine and the related geopolitical tensions,” says Massimo Sapienza, Managing Director of Peridot Solar. “Solar can reduce energy dependence on Russia in the short-to-medium term as well as generate clean energy. To take advantage of this opportunity and be part of the solution, it is necessary to develop projects across Europe. Peridot Solar has the depth of experience and the capital partner to build one of Europe’s leading solar development companies.”
“We are excited to partner with the Peridot Solar team at such a pivotal time for the energy transition. Increasing energy bills are a stark reminder that accelerated investment in solar generation is required to reduce dependence on gas and to meet UK and European emission targets,” says Andrew Gray, Partner at FitzWalter Capital.
